Just as I think things can’t get much stranger around here, I started helping Kaiden clean his room so my parents don’t think we live like this always. (Sorry mom and dad, it is generally a death trap walking into either kids room.)
Yesterday Kaiden was being super shady about the side of his bed, like I was invading his “privacy”. Obviously something was amiss, but I did a quick scan, moved a mountain of blankets and decided I was being paranoid.
This morning I walk into his room thinking, man this kid is getting stinky, like a Taylor stinky feet kind of smelly. I was running late and kind of forgot about the smell. And then, then there was tonight.
I was getting into the nitty gritty cleaning of random spots when something stuck out. At first I noticed my heating pad and thought, “Oh, this must have been what he was hiding. When I moved it is when it hit me. There were whole eggs on the floor under a small shelf in his closet. I asked him if those were eggs (because, clearly my eyes were deceiving me) and how long had they been there. He shrugged. Maybe 2 weeks. Ugh!
Who knows if his time line is even remotely correct, but eggs in a room can never be good. I realized this was probably the funky smell and then it hit me. He had the heating pad on the eggs to hatch baby chicks. I asked him if that was what he was trying to do. He nodded. So it seems to me he needs to visit the Steele Family Farm to get a lesson in baby chicks.
